2017 was the year that marked the centenary of the Russian Revolution. Despite the firm dismissal of Putin's government in supporting any celebration of the Bolshevik Revolution itself, hundreds gathered in Saint Petersburg and Moscow to commemorate the rise of the Soviet Union. Diplomats, politicians, activists or simply communism supporters from different countries, reunited and took part to the events organized by the communist parties of the Russian Federation and the Moscow Communist Inter brigade. Nostalgic choirs were sung during rallies, speeches and the gala-concert, becoming the soundtrack of a faded glorification.
